Motorola Droid Bionic Launch On INDEPENDENCE DAY

The much awaited Motorola Droid Bionic is expected to launch on or around July 4 - America's Independence Day - but can it set the Americans free from iPhone's oppressive rule?

According to rumors making rounds in the Internet, Motorola Droid Bionic will launch on America's Independence Day! The rumor has made smartphone fans excited but we're keeping our fingers crossed as Motorola hasn't confirmed the launch date yet.
According to tech pundits, Droid Bionic will become one of the most powerful and technologically advanced smartphones when it hits the market and has the trapping of an iPhone killer.Despite iPhone doing very well in terms of sales over the past 2-3 years, smartphone users and application (app) developers have become exasperated with Apple's restrictive business model and high-handedness. And yet, year after, people continue to throng Apple stores whenever a new iPhone hits the market, almost as if they are under the iPhone's hypnotic spell.
Droid Bionic reportedly will feature a 4.5-inch qHD screen (540x960 pixels resolution), capacitive multitouch display, a powerful Tegra 2 dual-core 1 Ghz processor, the newest version of popular Android Gingerbread OS, 512MB RAM/2048M ROM, 3D graphics hardware accelerator, 8 megapixel camera with 1080p HD video capture capability, proximity sensor, light sensor, Motoblur 3D (which boasts of improved UI to compete with HTC Sense), improved lockscreen, front-facing camera for video chat, 32GB storage space (including built-in 14GB), Bluetooth, WiFi, Accelerometer, and will be supported by Verizon's super-fast 4G LTE network.
But this time things may be different. With Bionic set for an earlier release than iPhone (iPhone 5 is expected to release in September if not later), if the Motorola device does well, Motorola will be able to wean away Apple customers from the iPhone and increase the LTE population.
Meanwhile, though Apple is tight-lipped about the specs of iPhone 5, it will reportedly be a smartphone on steroids compared to iPhone 4 as it is expected to come with 8 megapixel camera with LED flash, panaromic photo capabilities, multicore A5 processor, a 4-inch edge-to-edge display, 1080p HD video output, curved glass screen, a SIM-less design, 3-4 internal antennas for both GSM and CDMA networks, iOS 5, NFC technology, 1GB RAM, speech recognition capabilities, and 4G connectivity.
Will Droid Bionic end the rule of iPhone, which has been the gold standard in the smartphone industry since its first launch? Or will Bionic turn out to be another let-down? Leave your comments below.
the phone feels smooth in the same way a Droid 2 does, though a bit lighter -- good news considering the LTE hardware and big display, but not entirely surprising when you take into account the lack of a sliding QWERTY keyboard. The patterned battery cover looks textured, but it's actually quite smooth with a slight soft touch treatment. The screen looks great -- in particular, the viewing angle looked superb, though all phone displays have a tendency to look a little better in this sexy lighting since they can't wash out as easily. HP TouchPad Tablet Review

hp touchpad
In fact, it's a highly tactile and solid-feeling, if not weighty, device and – here's the shocker – we really, really like it. And if it can undercut the iPad on price? Then it's a serious contender.HP representatives were obviously coy on price but, for the record, we don't think it will be as cheap as the iPad (not that the iPad is cheap).HP webOS 3.0 seems like a superb interface and one that might well withstand the Android 3.0 Honeycomb onslaught. But, we must say, that there's still a little work to be done. When changing the orientation of the tablet it doesn't respond instantly. There's a pause with Honeycomb, but the TouchPad takes a lot longer.
And though it might not be a huge amount of time, it's these little things you notice when comparing webOS to Honeycomb and iOS.
The new tablet looks far better than it does in many photos and isn't as plasticky as it might appear. Here it is in the wireless charging dock (more details on the tech involved later).
There is a clever wireless pairing tech involved – it's the same Touchstone tech that's used in wireless charging for the Palm Pre. Hold the new Pre3 to the TouchPad's physical button and it will 'take' the web page that you have on the screen so you can continue to use it on your phone if you move off.Messaging is also extremely good, while the email is laid out really nicely. Each new mail you write opens as a new card so, if you want to, you can leave a card and return to it later.
Again the Messaging also works with your HP phone handset if you have one. Receive a text on your Pre3 or Veer and it will appear on your TouchPad.Photos are also a great experience – there's full Facebook integration (presumably more services will be supported at launch). You can also add Facebook comments from the image window. Our colleagues at T3.com grabbed some HP TouchPad video footage which you can watch below.
The webOS cards system works fantastically well on the tablet and the multitasking is wonderfully fluid. It's great to be able to flick cards on and off the screen and move between them. The operating system will need better support for developers though.
