ICS Update Available for Sony Ericsson

Sony's released a beta version of Ice Cream Sandwich for the Xperia family Phones. It's allowing eager-beaver Android fans to get a scoop of Android 4.0 ahead of the official release. Sony Ericsson is currently rolling out the upgrade to Gingerbread 2.3.4 across its entire 2011 Xperia smartphone. This software upgrade will be available through a phased roll out in select markets. Beyond Gingerbread 2.3.4, we plan to upgrade our 2011 Xperia smartphone portfolio to the next Android platform made available to us. The transition from Android 2.3 to Android 4.0, however, always seems to have been stalled due problems ever since it was released five months back and most of the manufacturers are yet to launch ICS on their existing devices. ICS, which builds on the things people love most about Android, such as easy multitasking, rich notifications, customizable home screens, resizable widgets and deep interactivity, is a simple, beautiful and useful OS that adds powerful new ways of communicating and sharing. Sony has detailed the updates a little more,

ICS Update For Sony ericsson Xperia Phones
ICS Update For Sony ericsson Xperia Phones
Today Sony's offering up more details about exactly when each of its 2011 (and 2012)Xperia handsets will be getting the latest version of Android. The manufacturer had previously promised updates during Q1, but with just two days of the current quarter remaining, it should come as no surprise that things haven taken a little longer than anticipated. The first Sony devices to get ICS will be the Xperia Arc SXperia Neo V and Xperia Ray, starting mid-April. Next up it's the Xperia ArcXperia Play,Xperia NeoXperia MiniXperia Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, Xperia Active and SE Live with Walkman, which will get ICS from "the end of May/early June. If you've just bought a brand new Xperia S, though, you'll be in for a much longer wait. Sony's new European flagship isn't expected to get ICS until late Q2. As we said in our review, the Xperia S is a phone which sorely needs that ICS update, and early adopters will no doubt be frustrated to find themselves at the back of the line. Sony also revealed that for 2011Xperia phonesICS will be an optional upgrade rather (through the PC Companion app) than a automatic over-the-air update. This is similar to the strategy adopted by Sony Ericsson with the Xperia X10's Gingerbread update. Writing on its Developer World Blog, Sony explains that ICS may actually degrade performance for some users due to increased memory use, and changes to the way SQL databases are handled, so it's not forcing the update on anyone in an OTA.

Latest Samsung Galaxy S 4G Blaze for t-mobile Reviews, price, Specs

The Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G, as the far too long name suggests, is yet another incarnation of the original Galaxy S. Sure, it has grown an extra CPU core, to go with its 42Mbps network connectivity, but at the end of the day, the newcomer packs a lot of the I9000 DNA and hardware. Thankfully, the CPU and chipset of the Galaxy S Blaze4G, unlike the rest of its hardware, have not remained in 2010. The smartphone packs Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 silicon with two Scorpion cores, clocked at 1.5GHz. Throw in NFC connectivity, and we are looking at a seriously capable, 2012 mid-range smartphone. Here goes the Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G full list of talents. As far asspecifications and looks are concerned, the Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G appears to be mostly a shrunken copy of one of T-Mobile's Android flagships - the Samsung Galaxy S II. This is definitely not bad news for the handset, as there are plenty of people out there who find the 4.52" sporting Galaxy S II a tad too large. While the upsides of having a powerful CPU, packed into a compact body are more than evident, we can't help but look at the PenTile matrix sporting screen with a dash of suspicion. The same applies to the TouchWiz-ed Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread of the smartphone- it is not exactly cutting edge this time around.

Latest Announcement Sony Xperia Neo L GSM Smartphone Reviews and Deals

Today Sony Mobile announced a new addition to its Xperia smartphone line-up. The Sony neo L is a mid-range device that is based on the neo V and is destined for the Chinese market. The Xperia neo L will run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich at launch (a first for Sony) and can easily be confused with the neo V as they share similar looks and specifications. However, the neo L also borrows a few design elements from the Xperia PLAY, sans the PlayStation certified joypad.

Sony Xperia Neo L Reviews and hot Deals
Sony Xperia Neo L
The handset, which is currently slated for a release in China, carries a 1GHz single-core Snapdragon CPU, 512MB of RAM, and a 4-inch display at 800×480. Also included is 1GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD) and a 5MP camera, but the neo L misses out on NFC support. It measures in at a plump 12.2mm and sports a 1500mAh battery. You’ll also find a front facing VGA camera on the front of the device. 1GB of storage is onboard, although there’s a microSD card slot so you can expand that up to 32GB. At the back, the Xperia neo L carriers a 5MP snapper capable of shooting 720p videos, while a VGA front-facing camera enables video calling. At 120.0 x 61.0 x 12.8mm, the neo L is slightly longer, but slimmer than the neo V.
Here are some hands-on photos of the neo L courtesy of Sina to help you see how the device really looks. Sony stays mum on pricing and time of availability of the neo L, but it has been revealed that the Chinese market will get it first. Whether it'll be also the last is anyone's guess for now.

Buy Latest Unlocked Alcatel OT 915 Cell Phones, Daily hot deals

The touchscreen will be a 2.8-inch unit, and its resolution will be 240×320, clearly establishing the OT-915?s place in the ‘affordable smartphone’ category. It will be 11.9 mm thick, and will run Android 2.3 Gingerbread – a largely unskinned install, though it is a pity that Alcatel chose to ignore the newer Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The Alcatel OT-915 will have a 5 MP camera, Wi-Fi, and an FM radio too. The Alcatel OT-915 is the French company’s next Android effort, packing a largely unskinned Android 2.3 and a QWERTY keyboard – and we’ve confirmed that it’s coming to the UK.

Buy Latest Unlocked Alcatel OT 915 Cell Phones, Daily hot deals
Alcatel OT 915
Alcatel is hoping to change that with the 11.9mm thick Alcatel OT-915, which takes the candybar form factor of a BlackBerry or a Palm Pixi, and squeezes in a 240×320 2.8-inch touchscreen. The OT-915 will sport a 2.8” display with a resolution of 240×320, a 5MP rear-facing camera, WiFi connectivity with support for FM radios and unfortunately it will come with Android 2.3 Gingerbread on board. If we had to guess, it seems unlikely that Alcatel will be pushing Android 4.0 out to the OT-915. Pricing has yet to be confirmed, but the Alcatel OT-915 is expected to be made available in the UK before the end of the year – rather vague if you ask me.     alcatel phones

motorola titanium for nextel cell phones
You can also access the Internet via Wi-Fi and an optimized browser. TheTitanium ships with a decent 5-megapixel autofocus camera with a flash. Pictures taken with the Titanium's camera had good detail but were grainy. Compared to other 5-megapixel cameras on mid-range to high-end phones, the Titanium's definitely falls short; however, because the detail in each picture is surprising, I wouldn't count it as a negative against the phone. Motorola hasn't made any big promises here, outfitting the camera with a video capture resolution of only 352x288. Expect terrible video and audio quality. Battery life will vary greatly depending on usage habits, but because the Titanium ships with an 1820 mAh battery, quite a large for a phone like this, most users will be able to get a full day of use. Even so, I would still recommend charging it every night. You can do a few test runs to see if you can squeeze two days out of the battery, but don't be surprised if it goes dead in the middle of the day.

Unlocked Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 GSM Phones and Hot Deals

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 is sequel to the popular, albeit mind-bendingly expensive, Xperia X1, which was released by Sony Ericsson in 2008. TheX2 is much cheaper than it's predecessor, and because the X1 was considered ""state-of-the-art"" at the time, little has changed this time around. Sony Ericsson's newly official XPERIA X2 in the flesh. It's got a flashy (gimmicky?) home screen, along with a view for ""snacking"" on bubbled-up information. Lots of buzzwords, but we'll need more time hands-on to know how we feel.

After a strong caveat that what we're looking at is preproduction software, aSony Ericsson rep admitted that Windows Mobile 6.5 isn't all it could be -- though we're unsure why Sony Ericsson didn't throw a bit more hardware at the problem, the floating Sony Ericsson home screen seemed to excuse any of the UI lag it introduces. Again, early software, but the X1 didn't exactly rise above its preproduction jankiness. The X2 a will feature 850 MHz 3G, fully suited for AT&T, Rogers, and most other North American carriers. However, you'll also pay a few hundred bucks more for the privilege. Since this is the only difference between the X2i? and the X2a, I'll be addressing them collectively as the X2 for the duration.

First Look Windows 8 Desktop: UI Concept

I don’t know about you guys but when I saw Metro UI for the first time on a desktop PC, the first word that came to my mind started with ‘W’ and ended with ‘TF’.  Sure, Metro is a beautiful user interface but when put on a 22-inch monitor it looks terribly out of place and doesn’t feel right when operated with a mouse. It looks even worse when placed alongside the old Windows 7/Vista UI, which will also be part of Windows 8.

screenshots of windows 8 desktop
screenshots of windows 8 desktop
I wished Microsoft had come up with a way to make the existing Windows 7/Vista UI look more like Metro instead of having them simultaneously in one OS. Unfortunately, my wish was left unfulfilled by Windows 8. But there is a designer out there who took almost exactly what I had in mind and made a mockup out of it. This, according to me and that designer, is how Latest Microsoft Windows 8 should have looked like.

first look windows 8 media center
windows 8 media center
The talented designer goes by the name Sputnik8 on The Verge forums and has gone through great effort to redesign certain key elements of theWindows UI, such as the desktop, the Explorer window, the browser and the media player. He even redesigned the Windows logo, which looks a hell of a lot better than what Microsoft came up with.

windows 8 internet explorer views
windows 8 internet explorer views
This concept UI is simple, beautiful and in-line with Microsoft’s Metro design language, without going too far from the original Windows look. And it looks like it could even work well on a touchscreen. In other words, it’s perfect.
Too bad that all we can do right now is look at these pictures and drool. Hopefully Microsoft sees these pictures and hires this guy to design their next version of Windows.     source
